Has anyone heard that saying, “This is so good I could just slap my momma?” I know it is a little crazy, but I just finished reading a book that might make you wanna slap your WHOLE family. HAHA.

Allan Folsom’s book, The Day After Tomorrow, is that kind of book!!!! Oh my word, I cannot even begin to tell ya’ll how much I enjoyed this book. I seriously encourage you to read this book!!

The next book I plan to read is by Greg Iles, entitled, Mortal Fear. He is a Mississippi boy and… I know I can hear ya’ll still saying, “Really? She’s just now reading these authors?”  Anyway, if you haven’t read him either then I DARE YOU to and let’s see who finishes first. J

Have you ever read a book and you kept thinking, “When is this ever going to end, or Is this book ever going to make its point?” Yeah well, I think I have that same life at the moment, meaning… is the library EVER going to be put back together? I know it will and it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel sometimes, but here’s the thing….Sometimes those long awaited points in the book are worth waiting for because you have finally discovered something totally awesome and something totally worth reading (and waiting) for. Then again…. I JUST WANTED TO PAINT!

So a chicken comes running into the library straight to the circulation desks and says, “book, bok, bok, book.” The librarian gives the chicken a book and watches the chicken run out of the library. A few minutes later, the same chicken runs in again and says, “book, bok, booook.” The librarian once again hands the chicken the book and watches the chicken run out of the library. A third time the chicken runs in saying, “bok, book, book bok.” The librarian not only gives the chicken another book, but follows it out the door and over the hills and through the woods, not to grandmothers house they go, but to the pond where the frog is waiting for the chicken. The chicken holds up the book to the frog and the frog says, “read-it, read-it, read-it.”

It’s funny, laugh 🙂

From the Blue Mountain Library

I know that you readers are sitting on the edge of your seats waiting to hear about the wonderful things that the Blue Mountain Library is doing. Well, at least a girl can hope, right?!!? Our library is such a special place and I’ve found that it is so special that every time a new librarian comes into “power” (HAHA), they paint. Still, I haven’t figured out if it is in our nature or job description. I have already shared with you that we are painting the walls and doing some “fixing” up to make our library fresh. However, I did not guess that we would be installing a new ceiling and two new walls. Yep, you heard me right, MAJOR remodeling! Our building is old and I guess it decided that it wanted a little TLC and I guess it chose me for that project, not my idea mind you, I just wanted to paint!

In other library news….my role as librarian was in role reversal with one of my patrons last week. I became the patron and they became the librarian. And here I thought the librarian position was mine. (HAHA) This patron and I were discussing books that they have read and they introduced me to two authors, Allan Folsom and Greg Iles. Once again to do I hear collective gasps because I’m just now hearing about these authors? I know, I know, but may I have a little credit I’m still new to this whole “Library Thing,” well maybe. 🙂 I am currently reading Allan Folsom’s novel, The Day After Tomorrow.

Can I just say that it is one of those novels that you can’t put down? Except I have, because of working at the library and my 4 year old, but it is AWESOME!! I definitely recommend this book if you have never read it!!

A good library will never be too neat, or too dusty, because somebody will always be in it, taking books off the shelves and staying up late reading them.  ~Lemony Snicket

OK, so I have a HUGE confession to make! I was not fond of John Grisham’s book The Racketeer. I know, right? Please don’t hate. He had a great story line and I liked the characters, but……..

In other library news, the count down continues til the painting begins at the library!!! Have I told you how excited I am? I AM SO EXCITED!!! The colors we are using are: Urban Putty for the 3 walls,  a Royal Blue for the “kids’” wall, and White for the trim. Once again, I’ll keep you updated on how the remodeling is going.

If you are in the neighborhood, I would love to meet you and visit with you and find out what you enjoy reading.

Our hours: Thursday 3-5pm, Friday 1-5pm, Saturday 1-5pm.

What did one book say to the other one?
I just wanted to see if we are on the same page

Can you believe it???!!!??? I have been the Blue Mountain Public Librarian since September 2012 and a MS girl practically my whole life and I have never read a John Grisham book. I know, I know, I hear all the collective gasps. I mean, how have I gone through my whole life and not read one of his books? Well, my patrons have finished reading his latest work, The Racketeer, and they have raved what a great book this is. So, I will plunge into this book and read my first ever John Grisham novel. I will let you know how it goes next week.

Other Blue Mountain Library news, we start our top to bottom remodeling of the library this upcoming week, which for my husband will be Spring Break, ‘cause he can paint like it’s nobody’s business!! I am so excited that our library will have fresh paint and…? Well I can’t tell you all my secrets just yet. However, I will keep you posted on our progress and I plan on taking before and after pictures too.

Have a great week and remember, “THE MORE THAT YOU READ, THE MORE THINGS YOU WILL KNOW. THE MORE THINGS THAT YOU LEARN, THE MORE PLACES YOU GO.” ~ DR. SEUSS
