More Christmas events at area libraries …

The Burnsville Public Library will host a Children’s Christmas Party on Saturday, December 6, beginning at 10 a.m.

The Christmas Party is for children 12 and under, and Santa will arrive on the fire truck at 10 a.m. to get the party started.

The party will be jam-packed with fun activites, games, crafts and prizes.  Children can visit with Santa and give him their wish list.  Parents are welcome to bring their own camera if they want a photo of their child with Santa.

This free event is supported by the Friends of the Library.  For more information or if you can help with this event in any way, please call the library at 427-9258.

The Tishomingo Friends of the Library will host a Story DOUBLE hour on Saturday, December 13th, from 1 pm – 3 pm.  In addition to stories being read, each child will make a special ornament to take home for their Christmas tree.  And best of all, we will have a VERY special quest… Santa Clause is Coming to the Library!

Tishomingo’s National Library Week Activities

The Tishomingo Library will be celebrating National Library Week April 14-19. The theme this week is “Lives Change @ your library. We invite everyone to come enjoy the activities we have planned at your library.

Monday, April 14 we will be hosting a luncheon for our local businessman and woman from 11:00 – 1:30. Food is provided by the Tishomingo Friends of the Library.

On Wednesday, April 16 come meet your “Friends of the Tishomingo Library” from 10:30 – 2:00. If you are interested in becoming a member, membership is $5.00 a year. Your participation helps serve special programs the library offers throughout the year. We encourage you to come and see what the library can offer you.

Friday, April 18 is Appreciation Day and a Book Exchange from 10:30 – 3:00. We will be serving cookies and coffee. We would like to thank all of patrons for your support during the year.

During the week we will have a drawing for an Easter basket for the kids. Kids must check out a book to be eligible to enter contest. Only one entry per checkout. Drawing will be Friday, April 18 at 3:00.

So come visit us at the Tishomingo Public Library, check out a great read and grab a goody bag. It’s our way of saying thank you for YOUR patronage!

Friends of the Tishomingo Public Library Open House

The Friends of the Tishomingo Public Library celebrated National Library Week with an open house.

Northeast Regional Library Announces Staff Changes

Several new staff members are assuming duties during this time. Changes are taking place at the Headquarters library in Corinth and at the Iuka and Tishomingo branch libraries.

Fredda McCune, who has been librarian at the Iuka Library for 33 years, will retire in January of 2013. Gwen Spain has been hired as Librarian. Mrs. Spain is currently working with Mrs. McCune as the transition takes place.

Hazel Sparks has been Order Clerk at the Headquarters library in Corinth for 16 years. Mrs. Sparks will retire in late December of this year. Robin Parrish has been selected to assume these duties and is currently training with Mrs. Sparks in the library’s Technical Services department.

Tishomingo Librarian Brenda Sappington has left the library to pursue a teaching position in the local schools. Mrs. Sappington worked for the Northeast Regional Library for 10 years, 7 of which were as Tishomingo Librarian. Beverly Parker has worked as a substitute for both the Tishomingo and Belmont Libraries over the past year and a half. She has now become the Interim Librarian at Tishomingo.

Headquarters and branch staff welcome these three new staff members to the Northeast Regional Library and wish them well as they begin their new positions.
